  • STPP: 100 Days & 100 Stories - Through a series of five regional forums, a strategic plan for statewide action to dismantle the School To Prison Pipeline (STPP) will be developed. Stories obtained through this symposium from stakeholders; students, parents, education community, legal community, elected representatives, civic community, and faith community groups will form the foundation of the plan that will improve the educational environment for Georgia's students. The statewide plan will include community-based solutions as well as proven local and national strategies for change.
         Georgia has taken important steps to change the climate in our public schools by banning solitary confinement, recognizing the need for change, involving the community and focusing on educational excellence. But we have so much more work to be done! That work will require students, parent, community members and organizations coming together for a better Georgia!

  • Racial Profiling 
  • Freedom to Marry - With all of the excitement over the ruling in the California Prop. 8 decision, many people are wondering how to advance marriage equality here in Georgia. This panel will discuss the legal strategy for winning marriage equality nationally, how to build support for same sex marriage in Georgia and what couples can do now to protect their families throughout Georgia. Members of the panel include: Family Law expert Dan Bloom, Lambda Legal Supervising Senior Staff Attorney Greg Nevins, Christine Sun of the ACLU's National LGBT Project and Jeff Graham of Georgia Equality.

  • Immigrants, Corporate Detention & Human Rights

    Reproductive Justice in Georgia

    Join us for a discussion of reproductive justice issue in Georgia.  Focus on the challenges over the last year and prepare for the next session of the Georgia General Assembly.  Hear more about the anti-shackling initiative and race & sex selection bills. Discussion will be led by Tonya Williams of SPARK  and ACLU Summer Fellow Jana Simon.
