COMMUNITY EVENTS
The Parent Connection presents Dangerous Choices with Chris Herren, a former high school basketball star from Fall River and NBA player who shares his harrowing journey with addiction. All high school students will hear Chris' story but it story even middle school students 12 years or older need to hear. Parents, mark your calendars for Wednesday, May 2nd 7:00pm presentation, 6:30pm reception - at Duxbury Performing Arts Center. This event is free of charge thanks to local sponsors. |

Dear Members, Families, Friends and Supporters,

The DSU was jumping with activity over April vacation with a Friday night Black and White dance for 6th and 7th graders and two Fist Full of Fun where campers rode the GATRA bus to compete in the Rock Paper Scissors scavenger hunt. (pictured). It was a Duxbury "stay-cation" like no other with great weather, fun activities and good times.

Good times continue this week with "Mini Summer Fest" Freaky Friday, April 27th from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Modeled after our popular summer event, kids will enjoy skateboarding and tunes in the parking lot with lots of activities planned indoors, too. Pricing includes a drink and snack: Alden Members $10, Non-members $20/DMS Members $5, Non-members $10. Bring your helmet and sign a waiver to skateboard. Must sign up by Wednesday with a minimum of 15 participants required. Click here to register.
Coming next week: 2012-2013 DSU Membership Drive begins. Registration opens Monday, April 30th for existing members and their siblings. Registration open to new members on Monday, May 7th.

Thursday, May 3rd "5-3-5" Event from 7:00pm - 8:30pm Our popular 535 event is back with fun and festivities - What does "535" stand for? It's May 3rd for 5th grade! Which country will reign supreme at this Wacky Olympics party? Join us and find out. Tickets: $12 Members, $15 Non-members. Tickets limited, available starting Monday. 
5th grade can't be the only ones who experience Wacky Olympics fun! Friday, May 4th No School means it's time for our Fist Full of Fun Camp from 9:00am - 3:00pm with more Wacky Olympics relays and games inside and out. Must sign by up Wednesday, May 2ndwith a minimum of 20 participants. Pricing: $45 Members, $55 Nonmembers. Member family of two is $70, Non-member family of two $80. For High school students, parents and friends
Friday, May 11th - 7.30pm - 10.30pm. DSU Coffee House and open mic featuring high school musicians Alenni Davis, bands New Violet, Revelator, The Black Dogs and DSU staff duo Amber Anderson and Tristan Cary. Sponsored by Vantage Point Realty Advisors, this is always an entertaining night out.
