"Rich....or Poor?"

From this week's news:

"Carson City, NV - If you ask most people on Mountain Street about Walter Samaszko, they can't tell you much. That's because most people didn't know the 69-year-old - even though he'd lived at the same home there for at least 30 years.

"I didn't really know him, nobody really knew him," says Sondra Baxter, who lives in the house across the street. "He mostly kept to himself."

Walter was a loner.  In fact, when he died at home it was a month before anyone knew he was dead.

As the real estate agent was cleaning out the house, he found some gold coins in the garage--lots of gold coins!  Altogether about 7-8 million dollars worth!

Walter was fabulously wealthy in gold, but he had no one who knew him, cared for him.

Is this wealth, or is this real poverty--to lack the relationship and love of others?

Jesus said: "Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

 --Matthew 6:20-21

Let us never forget that our wealth is not in what we accumulate, but in what we give  and give away.  Let us generously give our selves and Christ's love to every person we meet!

The Church Jesus Builds....Anointed!
ChurchJesusBuildsLogo

The Church of Jesus Christ is not a club, an organization or a business.  Because of God's Holy Spirit, Christ's Church is unique in the world!  Without the Holy Spirit, the Church is not unique--just another social group.  This Sunday, Pastor Wes will lead us in the third part of our 11-part series on Christ's plan  for His Church. Please prepare your hearts for this Sunday by praying for God's truth and presence to be with us as we come together to worship Him!

Mission to China Presentation This Sunday
Ming and Joyce will be sharing about their recent mission trips into China on Sunday Evening at 6:30.  This presentation will include pictures and stories about how God lead them and some of what was accomplished through them and the team which they were part of. There will be a time of refreshments and fellowship following.
Men Advancing in "The Quest"
Men, next Tuesday we have session #3 of "The Quest" entitled "Getting Started, Looking Back."  This really gets into important issues, so don't miss this session.   7:00pm, my place.  --Pastor Wes

We are planning an event when we would help Earl and Miriam get their wood ready for the winter for their wood stove.  At this point, it looks like November 10th might be the date. Please click here and let Pastor Wes know if you'd like to be part of this.

Youth Sunday September 30
Be sure not to miss the last Sunday of September as our Youth and Young Adults lead us in worship!  We're gonna praise the name of Jesus Christ as loud and as proud as we can!   Invite friends and family to our second Youth Sunday as Pastor Matt will be speaking. It starts at the normal time of 10:45a, but the atmosphere will be anything but! What we can say is that our God is an awesome God and we will praise Him!
Men's Conference: "Winning, God's Way!"
We had a wonderful "First Annual Grace Community Church Men's Conference," praise God!  Six churches were represented and Bill Minahan led us in a thoughtful and very helpful teaching on living with God's power in our lives.   Plans are already progressing for the 2013 conference.  Lord willing, it will be September 21, with DS Newell Smith as keynote speaker!
Children's Ministry
In the coming months we will be taking important steps forward in building our Children's Ministry and reaching out to new children.  To have meaningful and effective ministry to these young lives, we need to have passionate and loving children's workers--people who love kids and care deeply about their lives and relationship with God. Please give prayerful consideration if you would be willing to give of yourself and your time to make a lifelong difference!  Watch in the coming weeks for ways of becoming involved in this vital ministry.  Respond as God leads you.
