"Watch!"
Throughout life it is important to watch--to be ready--for what lies ahead. The Boy Scouts
"Be prepared!"
is good for all of life! We don't know everything that will happen, but it is wise to do what we can about what may happen.
That's why we have
first aid kits,
fire extinguishers,
seat belts,
air bags and insurance--and hope that none of them will ever be needed!
But how do we prepare to prepare our eternal soul? On some unknown day, each one of us will take the step from this life to the next.
One of our goals in life is to prepare for the life that come after physical death. Simply, that means to truly knowJesus Christ as Savior and Lord and to fulfill His will in our lives.
Jesus gave us instructions for how to be prepared in the Gospel of Matthew:
"Watch out for false prophets. (7:15)
"Watch out that no one deceives you." (24:4)
"Keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come."
(24:42)
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." (26:41)
And then from the Apostle Paul we have this one:
"Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and those who follow you." (1 Timothy 4:16)
God Bless You Today!

Current and Upcoming Sermon Series
This Sunday, we will continue with the second part of a short series onJesus' teaching in the Gospel of Matthew on the "last days." As able, please read chapter 25 and seek God's word for your life. Upcoming: Jesus Christ said, "...I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail over it" (Matthew 16:18). These are days when God seeks to build His Church---including Grace Community! Pastor Wes will lead us in a 10-part sermon series on Christ's true Church, beginning on Sunday, September 9th. We will be exploring what the Bible teaches about the Church in relation to truth, faith, worship, excellence, evangelism and more. Please add this sermon series, "I Will Build My Church!" to your prayer. We pray knowing that God will work powerfully as He continues to build His Church here! |

Grace Community Prayer Team
We are putting together a GCCN Prayer Team of people that would commit to pray regularly for current and new ministries of the Church for the next year. Our goal is to have 50 people--so far we have 48 people! Would you add your name to this list and become part of the 2012-13 Grace Community Prayer Team? You would receive monthly specific current and upcoming ministry items and commit to pray regularly for them. This GCCN Prayer Team is the powerhouse of what God is seeking to do. If you love God, know Christ, love His Church and would be willing to be one of these prayer partners, please express that to Pastor Wes at RWTink01@gmail.com.

Hey All! Happy Wednesday! We hope that this summer has been an uplifting one! Here's what's going on in the upcoming weeks!
Our Teen Bible Quizzing Season begins this month! Here at the church, we are going to dive into the Book of Matthew. Here is a link to our website with all of the details of what we are going to study, a schedule of what's going on and a little about quizzing itself.
On Friday, August 31, we're going to be up all night long! The Philadelphia District Back to School Rally is a time in where we will fellowship with teens across the district as we celebrate (and mourn) the end of summer vacation and bring in the new school year.
We pray that next summer we double the amount of people who went to camp! It was a great time of fellowship, worship, fun, excitement and full on surrender to the Lord! Our prayer is that everyone that can send to got to camp, both kids and teen, goes and has a great time!
Pray for our new ministries that are kicking off this fall and others that are starting in the future!

New Children's Sunday School Teacher!
Marly Paul will become the new Sunday School Teacher of children that Annie Osinga has faithfully taught for years! Thank you so much to Annie who has faithfully shown the love of Christ in children's ministry for many years. We know that Marly will do a great job in ministering these young lives. Please keep Marly also in your prayers as she begins studies at Philadelphia Biblical University this coming week! |
| Summer Church Finances
The Church has had around $4,000 of additional and unanticipated costs during this summer. Part of that has been important children and youth ministries such as Vacation Bible School. But part also is electrical repairs at the parsonage as well as damage caused by a lightning strike which has ruined some of our audio-visual equipment. If you are able to assist in getting us back on track financially, that would be a great help as we prepare for the Fall and Winter ministries. Thank you so much for your faithfulness for the Kingdom and this local Church!
