From Pastor Wes
"Value of a Soul"
What is the value of person's soul? At District Assembly this past week, I was struck by a comparison made by Larry Orwig, a representative of Jesus Film ministries. He said that one person makes a commitment to Jesus Christ for every $3.00 invested in the Jesus Film ministry. Pastor Rick Warren says that the Jesus film is "the most effective evangelistic tool ever invented." Everyday over 10,800 people make a decision for Jesus Christ through the Jesus film. The second part of the comparison is this: it is estimated that in the USA the average cost for one person to commit to Jesus Christ is $50,000. Wow! That's a difference! Why does it cost 16,666 times more in America than through the Jesus film in other parts of the world? Is it because of skepticism, cynicism, post-modernism? Is it because of ineffective evangelistic methods? Is is because we have focused on other things rather than leading people to Jesus Christ? Should we give up and invest all our resources in areas of the world where there is a better return? Jesus said: "What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?" (Matthew 16:26) So a single soul has value greater than the whole world--amazing! I'm sure your prayer is similar to mine: "Lord, please continue to have many people come to salvation through the Jesus film. But Lord, may we also see many people in our Mercer-Bucks region coming to salvation in Jesus Christ through any means at all. May we be effective soul-winners in this nation! May God Bless You Greatly This Week! |

Sermon Series: "Why?"
This Sunday, the teaching series by Pastor Wes on Christian practice will examine "Why? Secret Societies." Cosa Nostra, Bloods, Crips, MS-13, Skull & Bones, Freemasons, Rosicrucians, etc. may sound like a strange combination of groups, but are there some underlying commonalities? We will look at secret societies from a biblical perspective and through biblical principles. If you have specific questions or thoughts as we proceed, text them to Pastor Wes at 609-226-9615 so we can dialogue on them. Also, at the end of the service there will be a chance for further dialogue on the topic. To see more on this, go to the "Why?" sermon series brochure

Two Volunteers Needed
We have two immediate needs in relation to our global missions ministry: 1.) We have the missionary reading books and cds for 2012-2013. We need someone who would take leadership with these and ensure that they get circulated throughout the year so that as many people as possible get access to them. Our goal for this year is to have a total of 100 books read. One of the books this year is written by Pastor Wes' brother, Fletcher Tink. 2.) We need someone to take leadership in relation to our LINKS missionaries. We have two missionaries we are connected with this year: Dr. Floyd Cunningham, President of Asia-Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary and Dr. Samuel Hynd, missionary doctor in Swaziland. You can learn more about these two men here and here. We need someone who would inform Grace Community Church about these two men and to help in supporting and encouraging them throughout the year. Both of these positions are quite low in time commitment, but they are both vital roles the global mission ministry of our Church. For further information on these, please contact Pastor Wes here. Thanks! |
