From Pastor Wes
Each Memorial Day, our Earl Griffis is part of the Pennington parade. Each year the number of World World II veterans gets less--this year it was just Earl and just one other man. Sarah and I were honored to join Earl, Miriam and various members of their family for a picnic following the parade. In prayer, prior to the lunch we gave God thanks that Earl had returned home from the war, even though he was in a ship that was torpedoed and sank. We also remembered and prayed for the families of those who were not so fortunate. Two young men from our Church who did not come safely home from World War II were Chester S Erbe and George F Smith. We know that we are the grateful recipients of the great sacrifice of those who have gone before us and given so much. The poet, Samuel Francis Smith expressed it this way: My country, 'tis of thee, Sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing; Land where my fathers died, Land of the pilgrims' pride, From ev'ry mountainside Let freedom ring! Our fathers' God to Thee, Author of liberty, To Thee we sing. Long may our land be bright, With freedom's holy light, Protect us by Thy might, Great God our King. Let us never forget! |

| Final Good News
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." --Isaiah 40:28-31
