"One Thing?"

The computer you are sitting in front of has added greatly to your life in so many ways. Our computers enable us to accomplish much, access much and know much in relation to our world.

Maybe you feel the way I do: sometimes I find this computer is just too capable, too involved in too many areas of my life.  Yes, it is very helpful in study and research, communication, learning, managing finances, shopping, etc, etc, etc!

But another side of it is "information overload"--do we really need to know so much?  Is it good to load the hardrives of our minds with so much interesting but perhaps useless stuff?

Sometimes we need to review our celebral hardrive and determine what is really at the core of our mind and life.

One man in the Bible, was overloaded with information and interrogation.

Finally, exasperated he responded:
"One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!"
(John 9:25)

In our cluttered and overloaded world, what is the "one thing" for you?  What is the core part of your self and understanding that brings everything back into focus?
Think about it.
 And go for a walk.

May God Bless You Greatly This Week!

Sermon Series: "Why?"
questionmark
The current teaching series led by Pastor Wes is focused on questions and rationale related to specific beliefs and practices of Christians and of Grace Community Church.  This Sunday the teaching title will be "Why? Lotteries and Gambling"  We will explore the Bible, and Christian practice in relation to "games of chance."   This will challenge you!  If you have specific questions or thoughts as we proceed, text or email them to Pastor Wes so we can dialogue on them.  Also, at the end of the service there will be a chance for further dialogue on the topic.

We are looking for some brilliant helpers to minister to our children this summer. Won't you join us? We plan on starting our training sessions in June! Marriage
At Grace Community Church of the Nazarene, we are in full accordance with the Bible and historic Christian understanding and definition of marriage. This was stated clearly and compassionately this past week by leaders of our denomination in the following way:

We believe "that every man or woman should be treated with dignity, grace, and holy love, whatever their sexual orientation. However, we continue to firmly hold the position that the homosexual lifestyle is sinful and is contrary to the Scriptures.  We further wish to reemphasize our call to Nazarenes around the globe to recommit themselves to a life of holiness, characterized by holy love and expressed through the most rigorous and consistent lifestyle of sexual purity. We stand firmly on the belief that the biblical concept of marriage, always between one man and one woman in a committed, lifelong relationship, is the only relationship within which the gift of sexual intimacy is properly expressed."
