Youth Sunday!

Last Sunday was indeed a special Sunday in the life of our Church.  It was the first Sunday Service led entirely by the youth that we have had in quite a few years--and what a great ministry this did!
Two videos, two dramatic presentations, a wonderful series of anointed songs and the powerful testimony shared by Pastor Matt left all of us knowing we had "been to Church" and experienced the presence of God!

Sometimes I heard people say "young people are the future of the Church."
Not true--or at best--half-true.

Young people are "the Church," just as people of every age are "the Church."  And they are indeed "the Church" on the front lines of society, of peer pressure and of living as salt and light in this world.

I am so proud of these young people!  I have watched them grow, share their faith, make hard but right decisions, choose godly paths and be true to the Lord during these recent years.

At this time next year, 5 of them will be graduating from high school.  Keep these and all of these wonderful young people in your prayers.
They are making serious life decisions which will have an impact for years to come.

Know them.
Pray for them.
Encourage them.
Love them.
Praise them.

Jesus said, "Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of these, you have done it to me."

The investments of Christian love that you make with them will return to you a hundred-fold.
Thursday National Day of Prayer
Thursday, May 3rd is the 2012 National Day of Prayer.    Prayer has always been used in this country for guidance, protection and strength-even when it was just a handful of colonies. The Pilgrims at Plymouth relied on prayer during their first and darkest winter. Our founding fathers and mothers prayed during the Constitutional Congress. In their eyes, our recently created nation and freedoms were a direct gift from God. As a gift from God, there was only one way to insure protection and that was through prayer.  Please take time to pray specifically for our nation, our leaders, our children and schools, our military as you are able.

New Sermon Series: "Why?"
questionmark
"Why?"  "Why do we believe and practice what we believe and practice?"  These questions do not just come from our non-Christian friends, but also from within every congregation from people  who are earnestly seeking to understand.

Over the next 11 weeks (Lord willing!), Pastor Wes will be addressing the "Why?" questions in relation to our Christian practices:  "Why do we avoid gambling and secret societies?"   "What is our perspective on narcotics and alcohol and why do we hold to that perspective?"  "Why do we hold strong and clear positions on the sanctity of human life and human sexuality?"

This series of sermons may challenge you, but they won't bore you!  If you have specific questions or topics as we proceed, feel free to email or text them to Pastor Wes.

Later Days!

Mission 2012 Update and Invitation
On the first Sunday of March 2012, Grace Community began our "Mission 2012" vision for fulfilling our ministry to Children and Youth as well as meeting our commitment to global missions throughout the world.  Our goal was to have 25 people (or the equivalent) who would commit $2.00 per day through the remainder of 2012 in addition to their tithes.

We are delighted to report that 21 people are participating in this at various levels--Praise God!  We have invited each person to participate at whatever level they are able, so at this point we have the equivalent of 16 people giving $2.00 per day.  For a person who started at the beginning of March at the full amount of $2./day, it was a commitment of $600.00 for the rest of the year above tithes and any other offerings.

We believe that there may be other people that could help us to reach this important goal.  If a person begins from this week at the beginning of May, the rest of 2012 at $2.00 per day would be a total of $490.00.  From that, $122.50 would go to support Nazarene global missions and $367.50 would go to support our Ministry to Children and Youth.  Could you help us to reach this goal?  Would you pray about helping us to reach the equivalent of 25 people at $2/day so we can meet these obligations in full?  And....thank you!
