Pastor Youcef

THANK GOD FOR OUR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM!

On Sunday we will be celebrating the mission of Nazarene Church around the world. This week, however, we were reminded of the persecution that many  Christians around the world are facing.

The man pictured above is Youcef (Joseph) Nadarkani.
He has just been sentenced to death in Iran. His crime?  Converting from Islam to Jesus Christ and being a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Pastor Youcef has been offered leniency if he renounces Jesus Christ, but he has stood firm in his faith

Jesus told us that  "you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you."
(John 15:18-19)

Pastor Youcef is a husband and father of two young children.  He is one of thousands of Christians around the world who face death because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

Pray for Youcef. If you would like further information or to let your voice be heard for him or other persecuted Christians, click here

We not only praise God for our religious freedom, but we can also exercise that freedom in many ways!

God Bless You Today!

--Pastor Wes

Mission Sunday  World Flags
Did you know that you have an impact far beyond this community in pointing people to Jesus Christ and attending to the needs of their bodies, minds and souls? This Sunday, March 4, will give you a snapshot of what Grace Community Church is helping to accomplish for the Kingdom of God locally, regionally and globally.  Come and learn the impact we are making together--it is truly amazing!   Monthly Church Dinner following the Morning Service.
Church Dinner on Mission Sunday
The March Month Church Dinner will celebrate culinary cultures from around the world.  We encourage each family unit  to bring a meal to share that represents the food of the world from different cultures.  It may be your own heritage or another heritage that you enjoy.  If possible, please bring along an index card that gives the name and main ingredients.  Also, we will continue the successful pattern of last month by using teams for set-up, decorating, serving and clean-up.  Please participate in one of these as able and by sharing the duties we will again have a smooth, stress-free and delightful experience.  Thank you for your wonderful participation!
District Advisory Board Affirms New Name
These words from our District Superintendent, Rev. Newell Smith:

On "February 21, 2012, the Philadelphia District Advisory Board met and approved a name change from the Trenton (NJ) First Church of the Nazarene to the Pennington (NJ) Grace Community Church of the Nazarene. This action will appear in the District Advisory Board report to the District Assembly. Upon ratification by the District Assembly, it will be entered into the new District Journal as approved."   We are indeed grateful to Rev. Smith and the District Advisory Board for this step and anticipate the next step of this process at the District Assembly in May.

Tuesday Men's Focus: Paths to Victory!

Last week we wrapped up our 2-part discussion on accountable relationships.  During the course of our discussion last Tuesday, an important question came up.  At the core, this issue was whether we can have power over sin or we must live in our sin continuously?  So over the next 4 Tuesday Men's Group sessions we're going to address this question head-on:  "Can a man have victory over the sin in his life, or must we be stuck in the same sins over and over again?"   Bring your questions, your thoughts, your experiences to share and we will have a great discussion and exploration on this theme.  Also, don't forget that Brian is leading a great series on Sunday Mornings on powerful examples of outstanding men from the Bible!

Call to Artists

Hey, that's a great logo, right? But it belongs to another church and we aren't going to plagiarize it!  We need one of our own--and you can help!

If you have the time and talent, please speak with the Pastors about what we are looking for in a new logo.  Develop your ideas and submit them.  The logo selected will be widely used for our publicity, website, correspondence....you'll practically be famous!  :-)
Looking for Data Entry People
We are in need of someone who could help out with office duties.  If you have some time, computer skills, and attention to detail, please speak with Ming about an important need that we have at this time.   Thank you!
Church Directory & Webpage:
The new church directory is expected to arrive this week and we are hoping to be able to put it into your hand this coming Sunday!  We are delighted with all the support and participation that has made this a reality!  Also, Ken Weyna Jr. is working diligently on our new website. Please pray that these important tools will be a great testimony to the community and world  for leading people to Jesus Christ and Grace Community Church of the Nazarene!
