Grace. Community. These are indeed two wonderful words! The words selected by the congregation for the Church remind us that God freely gives us gifts that we have not deserved. And He has given these to be shared together--in community. The Apostle Paul is often called the "Apostle of Grace" because he speaks so much about grace in his letters. He knew well that he was undeserving of the great grace and blessing that God bestowed upon him. He reminds us that we too are recipients of what we have not earned or deserved: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God..." (Ephesians 2:8) May grace, the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, be central to our identity and influence in this community. May we be well known as the place of grace! God Bless You! |

Our Church Annual Meeting
There was a great spirit of praise and celebration at the Annual Meeting/Worship Service this past Sunday--Praise God! Rena Hopkins, Cheryl Jones, Paul Lai and JoAnne Oliver were elected to serve as Church Board Members for 2012. Do keep these dear people in your prayers as we discern the next steps that God has for us in reaching our community for Christ! Many thanks also to Paul, JoAnne, Ming, Josh, Jon, Pastor Matt, Marly and Sandi for sharing what Christ and His Church means to them. These were indeed powerful testimonies of God's grace! |

New Church Name
The congregation has selected "Grace Community Church of the Nazarene" as the new Church name. The next steps in the renaming process are for the District Advisory Board to approve this name, then the District Assembly to approve in May. "Grace Community"--what a great name, goal and mission for us to be known as in our community! Next we will be soliciting ideas for logo designs, so put your artistic talents to work!

Family Game Show Night 
On Friday, February 3 at 7p, COME ON DOWN! We are having our first Family Game Show Night! Join us as we play three popular game shows and fellowship with one another. Food, buzzers, prizes and a "charming" host will be there! Join us as we learn more about each other (and ourselves) as we play games and have a little friendly competition! Come on down! You could be the first contestant on Family Game Show Night!

Kids & Teens News 
What's Up, Grace Community! (That name has a great ring to it!) We are on the move in February! This month, the Youth continue to unpack the armor of God. Tonight is the Helmet of Salvation! Invite Teens to Youth Group today! It starts at 7p as usual!
On Saturday, February 18th, some of us are going to the February Teen Bible Quizzing Meet at Toms River in New Jersey. We are planning to start a quiz team next season! If you'd like to see what goes down, contact Pastor Matt by February 12th.
Also check out the article on VBS below! We are looking for a number of people with a wide variety of skills! We are also starting Children's Quizzing next season as well! If you'd like to volunteer to be a coach or have kids that may be interested in quizzing, let Pastor Matt know!
SUMMER CAMP IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! Teens (finished grade 7-12) Camp is July 30th-August 4, Kids Camp for finished grades 1-3 is August 6-10th and Grades 4-6 is August 13-17! Stay tuned for more information!
Finally, check out this video about teen Bible quizzing. These guys are quizzing on the book of Luke (in 2008) and the video starts from Question 16. This is an example of what our teens can look forward to!

The Amazing Penny!
 Do pennies collect on your dresser or shelf at the end of the day? Did you know that in 2010, those pennies from many Nazarene churches added up to $2,788,904? So what did those pennies accomplish? They built 133 churches and chapels, 27 mission and district centers, 12 missionary homes, 27 homes for ministry workers and 2 educational buildings! Wow! Your pennies helped to accomplish all that! We will be collecting these amazing pennies during the month of February. We have "Alabaster" boxes for saving these pennies. |
Church Dinner Ministry: "Love, the Great Gift"
 The monthly dinners following Sunday Morning Worship are a great occasion for fellowship and outreach. We are delighted that Sandi Weyna will be taking leadership of our monthly Church dinner ministry for 2012--thank you Sandi! We invite everyone to participate in one part of making this happen, either set-up, decorating, food prep, or clean up. Sunday, February 13 will be the our next Church Dinner with the theme of "Love--the Great Gift!" Since the slow cooker prep has worked so well, we ask you to do that again and bring a slow cooker meal of your choice. |
Calling All VBS Volunteers and Artists!
Later this month, we are going to have our first Vacation Bible School Volunteers Meeting! We need people to help during our VBS, Sky in July. We are looking for artists, builders, and more! The theme of our VBS has to do with the sky. If you have costumes of pilots or clouds or have any ideas, please share them with Pastor Matt! Ladies Ministry Tea Update:
The Ladies Tea this past Saturday was a time of great fellowship and spiritual reflection. Author Carrie Turansky shared important lessons from the Bible and her own experience how God triumphs over the troubles of life. We rejoice how beautifully this ministry is touching lives for Christ! |
