 LIBRARY ROTUNDUM
From Pastor Wes:
In these waning days of 2011, Sarah and I have returned briefly to Watertown NY to be with Sarah's mom for a post-Christmas visit.
One of my favorite places for getting some quiet study time the "Roswell P. Flower Memorial Library"-- a place of white marble, dark oak and beautiful paintings. This was a gift to the City by Mr. Flower's daughter a hundred years ago.
One condition of her gift always makes me chuckle--that the City of Watertown "agrees to devote not less than five thousand dollars annually to the care and maintenance of the premises." In 1904 that may have covered it, but it certainly wouldn't in 2012!
This library has been a great resource for this community for over a century now, truly a lasting and wonderful gift!
As I look at the marble statues and paintings of people long gone, it reminds me that we are all "just passing through." Taking down one calendar and putting up another one also reminds us of that.
The Apostle Paul wrote a very brief letter to Philemon, a friend. In it he praised Philemon for what he was leaving behind: "Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints."
Love. Joy. Encouragement. Refreshing hearts. What wonderful gifts to leave behind wherever we go! May it be so in 2012! God Bless YOU today! --Pastor Wes |

Covenant Service on New Year's Day
We begin the New Year by remembering and affirming our Covenant with God and with His Church. The Bible tells us that the "LORD's love is with those...who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts" (Psalm 107:17-18). The Covenant Service that we follow is based upon Scriptural passages in conjunction with John Wesley's Covenant Service instituted in 1780. We also use this Covenant process as an opportunity for each member of this congregation to review and assess their relationship with this local Church. You should have received a packet of documents during the past three weeks that gave an overview of membership options in this Church. Please review these before Sunday and bring your copy of the one-page Personal Covenant with you this Sunday If you would like a copy of the Covenant Service format before Sunday, please email Pastor Wes and a copy will be sent to you. This is a wonderful opportunity for remembering and reaffirming our commitment to Jesus Christ and to one another.

Final Days of New Church Name Suggestions
This Saturday is the final day for submitting suggestions for the new name for the Church. So far, we have received over 25 names--thank you! We're looking for a name that would positively reflect our ministry to the community. Please email your suggestion to Pastor Wes. The name must include the words "Church of the Nazarene." During January, the Church Board will select two final options. These two will be put to a vote of the full and active Members on January 29th during the Annual Church Meeting. Everyone is invited to participate in the process!

| ELIMINATE THE DEBT GOAL REACHED--PRAISE GOD!
During this summer of 2011, we slipped $5000 behind in our basic tithes and offerings for keeping up with our essential expenses. To get caught up on this deficit, there was a matching gift challenge presented to the congregation that if we raised $2500.00, the other $2500 would be matched by a donor. Praise God, despite these difficult financial times, due to your sacrifice and generosity this goal has been reached! THANK YOU!!!
