Christmas Season Trips
RWTHeadshot510. From Pastor Wes:

Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,  for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant...His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation."

Luke 1:46-50

Societal values stress power, independence and autonomy.

Christmas reminds us that the Almightly God Who created the universe is not impressed by our power or cleverness, but is drawn to a humble spirit and the realization of our need for Him.  Why should God be bothered with people who don't need Him?  God has always had a preferential option for those who realize that we can do no good thing apart from Him.

During this season, rejoice in the fact that God comes to us in our need--and because of our need--of Him alone!

God Bless YOU today!

STORIES OF CHRISTMAS:
NativityStar

During these Advent Sundays, we are focusing on stories of Jesus. This Sunday we'll remember Mary's story.  On the 18th, Joseph's story.  Also on December 18 the Christmas Choir Presentation will be  "Festival of Lights"---that the message of Christmas is to shine throughout this world that the Messiah is Wonderful, Counselor, Prince of Peace!

On Christmas Sunday, we will celebrate the stories of Jesus in the lives of our congregation.  Would you like to share yours?

JANUARY 1, 2012: COVENANT SUNDAY

In this Church, we begin the New Year by remembering and affirming our Covenant with God and with His Church.  The Bible tells us that the "LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children-- with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts" (Psalm 107:17-18).

The Covenant Service that we follow is based upon Scriptural passages in conjunction with John Wesley's Covenant Service instituted in 1780.  We also use this Covenant process as an opportunity for each person to review and assess their relationship with this local congregation. Beginning this Sunday, an overview of the Covenant will be available along with the documents of membership in this Church.  During December, please review these documents and prayerfully consider your relationship with God and with this local Church for 2012.

Church Membership Class this SaturdayAutumn Church Front
Church Membership Class will be taking place on Saturday, December 10th from 1:00-5:00 pm. If you are interested in membership in this Church, please email Pastor Wes at RWTink@aol.com to register.  Even if you're not sure about membership, learning more about your Church is always good!

A NAME THAT REFLECTS THE MISSION:

This Church has been known traditionally as the "Trenton First Church of the Nazarene."  However, it is now more than 40 years since we relocated from the City of Trenton to the current location in Hopewell Township.  Due to ongoing confusion about our location, we are initiating a process to select a name for the Church that would be more reflective of our location and ministry.  From now until December 31th, you are welcome to submit suggestions for a new name. Email your suggestions to RWTink@aol.com or put your suggestion in the designated box at Church. The name must include the words "Church of the Nazarene." In January, the Church Board will select two names. Then these will be put to a vote of the full  and active Members on January 29th during the Annual Church Meeting.  Everyone is invited to participate in the process!  Yours might be the one!
Kids and Teen News
In the Teen Sunday school class, our theme for the past few weeks is called "What's the Word?". We're going through the Word of God and discovering what it really means to be obedient, show and receive forgiveness and how to have faith in hard times. Of course, we are having a great time doing it!

On December 31, we plan on ending 2011 with a BANG! More details coming soon!

Finally, this Summer 2012, Trenton First takes to the Skies with our Vacation Bible School. Check this promotional video and keep your ears and eyes open for some more information in the upcoming months! God Bless You!
