On Sept. 29, 2012, the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council will host the first annual Green Apple Day of Service. For one day, advocates from around the world, including students, teachers, parents and elected officials, as well as international green building councils, USGBC staff, chapters, member companies and more, will come together in support of healthy, sustainable schools by taking action in their communities. The West Michigan Chapter of USGBC encourages you to engage with your school district or K-12 clients and register a service project.

Letter From the Chair
WOW! Because of so many comments during the 4th public comment period on LEED 2012, USGBC has made a decision to delay the voting on the new rating system until June 2013. They have changed the name to LEED v4. This means the 2009 rating system will stay alive for another year. USGBC is looking for beta projects to try out the new v4 rating system.
I would like to give a big thank you to Renae Hesselink for helping the chapter receive one of the 2012 Green Schools Innovation Grants from USGBC. More details to come on the planned Green Schools event with the Detroit Regional Chapter and how we will need your help.
