The Stop-Smoking Hotline Changing
 
 
As you may know, the funding for Ohio's smoking cessation program, Ohio Quits (800/QUIT-NOW), has been reallocated.  As a result, Medical Mutual of Ohio will continue to provide, and will now fully fund, this valuable program through the SuperWell QuitLine, which is currently available to members who live outside of Ohio.
 
Beginning January 1, 2009, members who are Ohio residents should begin using the SuperWell QuitLine, which is offered in partnership with the National Jewish Health.  The QuitLine phone number is 866/845-7702.
 
Members who call the Ohio Quits program on or after January 1, 2009, will be transferred to the SuperWell QuitLine and will be given the new toll-free number.
 
The QuitLine brochure (Z6304) will be updated to address the changes.  Please watch for the updated version on MyBrokerLink.  You are encouraged to notify your groups of this change and send them the new brochures.

COBRA Waiver Procedures Revised
 
The COBRA Waiver and Addendum forms for Medical Mutual (Z4801 R1/09) have been revisedand are now available on MyBrokerLink.com. The COBRA Waiver Approval form was deleted, and Vice President and Royal Advantage broker signatures are no longer required. In addition, the COBRA Addendum language has been updated as a result of removing the Waiver Approval form.
 
A written waiver is required by MMO's contract with CobraServ/Ceridian, and the COBRA Addendum fulfills that requirement. The Legal department must receive a signed, original COBRA Addendum from each group. Faxes, copies or PDF files will not be accepted.
 
Before the COBRA Addendum is countersigned, the Group Contracts department will verify that the group has a signed contract on file. If the group wants an Addendum returned to them they must submit two signed, original forms. Group Contracts retains the original, fully executed COBRA Addendum.

Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment and Regulations Reminder MMO

Medical Mutual reminds you that the Medicare Advantage open enrollment period runs through March 31, 2009. During this period, members can change plans once. Per Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, members cannot enroll in a Part D plan, if they do not currently have one, or drop a Part D plan during open enrollment.
Additionally, Medicare guidelines prohibit an individual from being enrolled in more than one Medicare Advantage plan at any given time. This means that a member enrolled in one of Advantage Plan's medical-only plans cannot be enrolled in a prescription drug-only plan at the same time - unless that medical plan is Advantage Plan Freedom.

NEW Group Data Verification Form for Sold Cases 
 
 
For all sold groups after the 3/1 effective date, or for any groups that haven't already been sold for 3/1 and on. Please use the NEW Group Data Verification form when completing sold case documentation. This form is to be used for all size groups. The old forms will no longer be accepted for submission after the 3/1 effective date.
