Join CHAI on Tuesday, January 31st from 7-9 in the Hillel Basement to kick off the semester right with free Israeli food, and giveaways! There will be a presentation of "Israel 360", followed by shmoozing and learning about the many opportunities to get back to Israel for little or no cost!

Are you interested in education?  Martha Kanter, the Under Secretary of Education, will be at the Smokler Center on Tuesday at 10:30am for a meeting with local Jewish leaders, Hopkins administrators and a small group of students.  If you are interested in possibly being a part of this meeting and are free from 10:30am to 11:30am on Tuesday, January 31st, please email Debbie at  dpine@jhu.edu.  In your email, please indicate your involvement in education and why you are interested in attending.  Debbie will get back to you on Monday.

Attention Hopkins seniors and students over the age of 21!! Hopkins Hillel Senior Board is heading to the Jewish Museum of Maryland's "Warm Your Soul: A Coffeehouse Brews & Schmooze" on Thursday, February 2, from 6pm to 9pm! 

Transportation and admission are FREE! Light refreshments will be served! Alcohol will be available for purchase with appropriate ID.

We will be leaving from the Hillel building (Smokler Center, 3109 N. Charles St.) by 5:30pm.

Hillel ASB in Jamaica!!Jama

Looking for a relaxing yet meaningful spring break? Join Hillel in Jamaica!!! This unique program offers the chance to learn about the Jewish history of Jamaica while having fun in the sun and doing meaningful community service work. You'll stay at the (www.greathuts.com) Great Huts Resort in Port Antonia, Jamaica and while there volunteer at the (www.prmhomeless.org) PRM homeless shelter and work with the elderly at their nursing home. In addition to service work you'll be able to learn about the history of the Jewish community in Jamaica and visit their (http://www.ucija.org) synagogue.  You'll end the week with a relaxing Shabbat while staying at the (http://www.jamaicapegasus.com) Pegasus Hotel. Go to Israel with Hopkins Hillel and JNF on Alternative Spring Break, March 17-24, 2012. Join other Hopkins students and young adults for a week of community service benefiting JNF's Operation Carmel Renewal to help rebuild Northern Israel from the devastating fire of December 2010. The trip is free, paid for by generous JNF donors, but participants are responsible for raising a minimum of $1100. Register under the Hopkins Hillel team and check out our Facebook page. We lowered the cost of Shabbat dinner this year from $17 to $12 to welcome more students into the Hillel family. Please sign-up for this wonderful new meal plan today. For students who show up at the door on Friday night for dinner without signing up in advance, the price of dinner is $15.
