Sunday, October 30 · 4:30pm - 5:30pm  at The Interfaith Center

 

Join the Muslim-Jewish Initiative this Sunday as we discuss the concept of God as understood in Islam and in Judaism. What are the attributes of God? What makes God worthy of worship? To what extent (if at all) can humans understand or connect to God?
Come learn from and about other members of the Jewish and Muslim faiths. Refreshments will be served.

Come and join us for a conversation with Admiel Kosman, considered one of Israel's leading poets, and his translator, Lisa Katz!  They will be reading and discussing poems from Kosman's first book ever to appear in English, "Approaching You in English".  FREE kosher wraps will be served for lunch!

"Gil Hoffman - Israel and the Arab Spring: Will the Jewish State Spring Forward or Fall Back?"

 

On Friday, November 4 from 12-1pm (location TBD), Gil Hoffman will provide an insider's look at the future of the Middle East and hopes for democracy and peace.  Hoffman is the chief political correspondent and analyst for the Jerusalem Post.  He is well connected to Israeli and Palestinian leaders, has interviewed every major figure across the political spectrum.  Hoffman has been interviewed by top media on six continents and is a regular analyst on CNN, Aljazeera, and other news outlets.

Meet Aaron Kintu Moses, a prominent leader of the Abayudaya Jewish community of Uganda. The schools in Abayudaya feed and educate more than 750 Jewish, Muslim and Christian children who study together in peace. Come learn about nutrition, public health, women's empowerment, micro-finance, crafts, music, coffee and more with Aaron Kintu Moses, their dynamic leader .

Help us plan for Shabbat dinner

 

Our Shabbat dinners have been amazing so far and we're so pleased that many new people are finding their place at the table at Hillel.  To make sure that we have enough food for everyone, we need to plan ahead.  Starting this Shabbat, if you sign up and pay by Wednesday, dinner will cost $12.  If you sign up on Friday when you come for dinner, you will be charged $15.    Please visit our website and choose a book of 10 or 5 dinners or sign up each week in advance to insure that everyone can enjoy great Shabbat food and festivities.
