Dear Friends:

We are delighted to announce that Community Healing Network, Inc.(CHN) has entered into a collaboration with the Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi) to help make this the decade for the emotional emancipation of Black people.

ABPsi has endorsed the annual celebration of Community Healing Days, designed put "time for healing" on the Black agenda. ABPsi and its members will provide advice, counsel, research support, and hands-on assistance to help CHN build a nationwide grassroots network of self-help groups focused on emotional emancipation and healing for Black people. Members of ABPsi have responded enthusiastically to the idea of making this the decade for emotional emancipation, and many have signed on to serve on CHN Task Forces to launch local healing circles and help equip local leaders to establish ongoing healing initiatives.

This collaboration underscores the fact that the celebration of Community Healing Days is a catalyst for a continuing grassroots movement-not just a once-a-year event. Dr. Cheryl Grills, president of ABPsi, said ABPsi and its members will "provide advice and hands-on help to establish ongoing local healing circles where Black people can meet regularly to come to terms with and heal from the emotional legacies of slavery and racism."

The healing circles that will be established gradually in cities across the country with the help of ABPsi are central to CHN's plan to build a grassroots movement to overturn the lie of Black inferiority. This new partnership is a crucial step on the road to CHN's goal of building a nationwide network of self-help groups by 2019-so that, as a people, we will see ourselves in a whole new light by the year 2020.
