As 2010 draws to a close, we are delighted to report that the community healing movement is growing!
Your enthusiastic response to Dr. Maya Angelou's call to Wear Sky Blue SM made the 2010 celebration of Community Healing Days the best yet. People in more than 70 cities participated. And people in 20 cities committed to follow up on the celebration by establishing year-round community healing activities.
We thank you and ask for your continued support so that we can do even more in the year ahead. Our aim is to build a vibrant national network of self-help groups focused on healing from the emotional legacies of racism. To achieve this by the year 2019, the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Africans on American soil, we will be working in collaboration with the Association of Black Psychologists, the National Alliance of Faith and Justice, Tom Burrell and his Resolution Project, black booksellers, and other organizations across the country.
As a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, volunteer-run organization, we rely entirely on voluntary contributions. With your help, we will be able to equip local leaders with the tools they need to launch and sustain year-round grassroots healing initiatives. If 500 people contribute $100 each, CHN will have the basic resources it needs to carry on its crucial work in 2011. But, a gift of any amount, $5, $10, $20, or $50, will be helpful and deeply appreciated.
