Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Black History Month, again.
Just thinking how wonderful it is that the celebration of Black people's inestimable contributions to world history and the celebration of love fall in the same month.
After all, isn't the celebration of Black history really about Black self-love--about recovering that sense of self-worth that the myth of Black inferiority was designed to take away?
Black History Month is about much, much more than historical facts and dates. At its root, it is about the struggle for Black self-love.
Let the struggle continue. Happy Valentine's Day.
