Dear Friends:
Thank you for
making the second annual celebration of Community Healing Days such a success. What
began as a call to healing in one city last year has led to celebrations in
fifteen cities across the country this year! The movement for emotional healing and renewal for Black
people is growing, steadily and surely, and we thank you for putting "time for
healing" on your calendar.
We especially want to express our appreciation to the wonderful men and women who did such an excellent job in facilitating local celebrations
of Community Healing Days 2009.
They are at the forefront of a movement that will transform the lives of
Black people the world over--and we applaud them.
We have heard wonderful reports about the celebration of Community
Healing Days 2009, and local leaders were particularly excited that so many
young people joined in the weekend's festivities. Leaders in several
communities are already making plans for year-long intergenerational programs
to build the movement for healing and renewal at the local level--and we look
forward to continuing to work with them. Community Healing Days is much more
than a once-a-year celebration. It is a catalyst for a movement-and the
movement is building.
Next up, please join
us for "An Evening with Dr. Maya Angelou and Friends" on Saturday, November 7,
2009, at the Riverside Church in New York City. Dr. Angelou, Chair of the
Community Healing Network (CHN) Board of Advisors, will lead an
intergenerational gathering to introduce CHN and issue a call for a global
movement for intra-racial healing and inter-racial reconciliation. She will be
joined by hip-hop artist Common, singers Freddie Jackson and Red Hurley, and national
radio personality Tom Joyner. Please join us for what promises to be a
ground-breaking event. For
tickets, please visit the CHN website atwww.CommunityHealingNet.org.
And we invite you to stay with us along the path to healing
and renewal. Please visit our website often as we work to expand the movement
for community healing-the movement aimed at freeing our minds-and changing how
we see-and feel about--ourselves.
Please spread the
word. Forward this email to your family and friends. And,
please, tell us what you think. Join
the Community Healing Network conversation on Ning, Facebook, or Twitter. We
look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Enola G. Aird, President
