Choral Collaborative - Another Success
In celebration of National Opera Week, Opera Omaha and the Omaha Symphony presented Choral Collaborative on November 15.
Choral Collaborative provides an opportunity for the
participating students to perform with four professional guest soloists
(provided by Opera Omaha) accompanied by members of the Omaha Symphony.
Opera Omaha's resident music director, J. Gawf, along with the
resident conductor of the Omaha Symphony, Ernest Richardson, visit the
schools during the weeks prior to the performance to provide
coaching and accompaniment as well as to facilitate combined
rehearsals. Students are taught the fundamentals of proper vocal
technique and possible careers in the arts are discussed. Participating
High Schools included: Bellevue East High School, Bellevue West
High School, Burke High School, Fremont High School, Lincoln Southwest
High School, Papillion-La Vista High School, and Papillion-La Vista
South High School.
