Opera Omaha E-News!
Greetings from Opera Omaha

Hopefully this newsletter finds you fully recovered from your Thanksgiving Festivities and your Black Friday Shopping.   We here at Opera Omaha have been busy this past month, celebrating National Opera Week, joining over 700 high school students and the Omaha Symphony for Choral Collaborative, and offering up the first class of our Mozart 101 series.

You will find a little Black Friday special of our own below, stories and highlights of our past month, and a few things to mark on your calendar so that you don't miss out on any of the exciting events that are upcoming!

Happy December from Opera Omaha!

Choral Collaborative - Another Success
Choral Collaborative In celebration of National Opera Week, Opera Omaha and the Omaha Symphony presented Choral Collaborative on November 15.

Choral Collaborative provides an opportunity for the participating students to perform with four professional guest soloists (provided by Opera Omaha) accompanied by members of the Omaha Symphony.   Opera Omaha's resident music director, J. Gawf, along with the resident conductor of the Omaha Symphony, Ernest Richardson, visit the schools during the weeks prior to the performance to provide coaching and accompaniment as well as to facilitate combined rehearsals.  Students are taught the fundamentals of proper vocal technique and possible careers in the arts are discussed.  Participating High Schools included: Bellevue East High School, Bellevue West High School, Burke High School, Fremont High School, Lincoln Southwest High School, Papillion-La Vista High School, and Papillion-La Vista South High School.
