"There just aren't
words to express how pleased we are to have this horrible misunderstanding
resolved," comments Kelly Blice, Director Marketing. The Fat Lady was not harmed in anyway and she
is in good spirits according to Ms. Blice.
"During this whole ordeal, it seems that she and the Pirate King have
formed a friendship. She is looking
forward to attending not only tonight's performance but enjoying the show on
Friday and Sunday as well!"
"First, I want to thank all of my beloved fans and friends for
keeping vigil over the past couple of weeks.
I love you all! While I was a
captive, PK (that's my pet name for the Pirate King) and I really bonded. I know what it's like to have your image
misunderstood or be the butt of jokes. I
choose to focus on how I can use my fame to promote an art form that I truly
love and I think he has realized that a little good-natured fun doesn't hurt
anyone," states the Fat Lady.
According to John Wehrle, Opera Omaha General Director, "We
are grateful to all those who helped, members of law enforcement and our
counsel, and especially our loyal audience members and supporters. Today, we have an important part of our
history restored and we produce a spectacular work of art. It is a great day for Opera Omaha."
"Of course, the Fat Lady said it best of all," continued
Wehrle. "Opera not only brings together
art, poetry, music and beautiful voices, but it has the power to bring together
a community - Opera is for Everyone."
Reminder: Opera Omaha
is currently accepting donations for The Blizzard Voices Clothing drive. New hats, mitten, coats and other winter
items can be dropped of at the theater.
The donated items will benefit Operation School Bell, a wonderful
program run by the Assistance League of Omaha. [Learn more]
