PROSPERITY: THE TIME TO INVEST?
The financial news recently has been full of gloom, doom and downhill spirals. What's a person to do? Luckily for those of us living in Canada, the situation is less dire than in the US. Whether we are gilt-edged investors or modest salary earners, it behooves us to find ways to focus on where we want to go, rather than where we are afraid we might end up.
From a Feng Shui point of view, there are many creative approaches to maintaining and even improving good fortune. Some are logical, some may seem symbolic, others a little imaginative. In all cases, they have the potential to work for us if we focus consistently on our desired goals. They may involve inner personal work; some are more down to earth.
What Feng Shui can do
Using Feng Shui enhancements in key areas in your home or office can result in magical outcomes if you remember that they are visual reminders of what you wish to achieve. The law of attraction comes into play here.
To maintain your wealth and prosperity:
Your front entrance should be easily seen, clean and clear, 'entrancing' and easy to find. Embellish it with pleasant lighting, flowers, statuary or other objects that say welcome.
Ensure good energy flow throughout your home by clearing your clutter. This means your closets, drawers, cupboards and attached garages. Remember your basements and attics.
Prosperity Enhancements

As you enter your home through its main door, focus on the far left corner which is considered your wealth and prosperity area.
Bring in a variety of enhancements - those which resonate with you.
Suggestions include:
- Colours of red or purple
- Thriving plants, with coin-shaped leaves - jade plants
- Faceted crystals to multiply energy
- A water feature: a table top fountain or an aquarium
- Photos or artwork as metaphors for abundance
- Additional lighting
- Candles
- A seashell filled with coins
- A piggy bank
- Jewelry spilling out of a 'treasure chest'
- A bright red rock to anchor wealth and prosperity.
- Mirrors placed to duplicate your symbols of wealth
You can apply the above suggestions to each room in your home as well. As you enter, focus on the far left corner.
With any room that has water facilities - bathroom, laundry room - avoid the downward pull of prosperity energy by keeping lids down, drains covered.
It is important that you quietly identify within yourself what your desired goal is as you put your carefully-chosen objects in place. Having a clear intention is key, so that each time you look at this part of your home you are reminded of what you wish to create. Reflecting on it repeatedly will bring results.
Attitude is everything
Create a "Gratitude List" of people, places and things you are grateful for. Read it daily. Add to it regularly. Focusing on the things you are thankful for will bring you more of them.
Make a conscious effort to keep your spirits up and your energy high - particularly relevant as the winter months approach. Spend time with friends, participate in activities, attend inspirational workshops.
Envision the situation you wish to create. Write down your "Ideal Scene". Develop affirmations that state the desired goal.
Yes, this is the time to invest.
In yourself.
