| An Announcement from the President of the Executive Board of Directors . . .
Earlier this year, the Executive Board of Directors announced that it would commence a process to find a new Head of School (HOS). As an interim solution, Lisa Crim and Sheila Bravo agreed to serve as Co-Directors. Their leadership permitted the board to take time to clarify the school needs and determine what type of leader is required for its future. The accreditation process has served as a framework for this process. As you know the entire school community has put forth a lot of hard work toward accreditation and the success of TJS. From that work the school has identified its vision, mission, educational philosophy, and long-term goals. With this information, the board has defined the HOS role and is ready to commence advertising for the position. A search committee, chaired by JoAnn Babbie, and comprised of board members, parents and teachers was formed to lead the process. This committee is responsible for drafting the position description, promoting it, screening candidates and making a final candidate recommendation to the board. This committee received input from faculty and staff, referenced the findings from the school's accreditation process, and followed search process guidelines developed by the National Association of Independent Schools to draft a position description for board approval. In early December the school will begin advertising for this position in local papers and with education associations in the tri-state area. The position description and application will also be posted on the school web site. It is our hope that a candidate will be identified and hired by July 2009. Both Sheila and Lisa have committed to partner with the board in ensuring a smooth leadership transition. We all know as parents, staff, and board members the amazing education our students receive. Through our cooperative efforts, we have defined a path for the school to grow and offer this education to more students in the area. We are confident that we will find the right individual who will join us in achieving our vision for growth. Should you have any questions, please feel free to call JoAnn or me. Sincerely, Dean Sherman
