Exciting New Initiatives at Khonsu Temple

Khonsu Temple Photo Temples, Training and Talatat
Khonsu Temple is a beautiful example of an almost complete New Kingdom temple and is well worth exploring. But, due to its location--somewhat off the beaten track at Karnak--it is rarely visited.

The Supreme Council of Antiquities has asked ARCE to prepare the Khonsu Temple for easier and safer access to tour groups, and now ARCE is leading four distinct projects in and around the area.

ARCE Staff Buttons Up for Northern Chapter Visits
The blustery first week of February was a whirlwind of activity for ARCE's Associate Director, Michael Jones, and Director of Development, Dina Aboul Saad. The two staff members made a three-city tour of local ARCE chapters, where Jones delivered a series of lectures on some of ARCE's recent Egyptian conservation projects.

Emily Teeter Discusses the Mummy of Meresamun in Cover Article
ARCE Vice President Emily Teeter is interviewed in the latest issue of Archaeology magazine.

In the March/April 2009 cover story, "A Mummy's Life," Dr. Teeter, Research Associate and Coordinator of Special Exhibits for the University of Chicago's Oriental Institute, discusses new state-of-the-art scanning research undertaken on the 3,000-year-old mummy of Egyptian temple singer Meresamun.
