Book Lover's Book Club

The second meeting of the Northern Neck Family YMCA's Book Lovers Book Club met on Tuesday May 18th at 5:30 and this month's leader, Kathy Stevens led the group in a lively discussion of the book "Three Cups of Tea" by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin.  Accompanied by hot tea, biscuits and dried apricots, the "lovers" explored their experiences and feelings about the bestselling non-fiction book about one man's effort to build schools for children in remote areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The book club, consisting of young and experienced, male and female, novice and practiced readers meet once a month to share their varied knowledge and opinion of books of different genres and styles.  Insight, curiosity and laughter are always welcome.  Next month's meeting, scheduled for June 22nd, will explore the book "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett a novel set in 1962 amidst the turbulent times of the civil rights movement in Jackson, Mississippi.

If you are interested in joining our book club please call Kathy Stevens at 804.435.0223 or email her at kstevens@peninsulaymca.org.
