| Streets to Home Partnership (StoHP) | |
Serial inebriation/street intoxication has a long history in the Flagstaff community. Planning and efforts to help address these challenges has an extended history as well. In the past two years, a new focus has emerged resulting in 2009 study conducted by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC). The study showed less than 50 people account for a majority of arrests, emergency medical service calls, and emergency room visits in Flagstaff. The CJCC researched evidence-based practices that other communities have implemented to help with the problem of serial inebriation/street intoxication. Two effective solutions were identified: permanent supportive housing and focused case management.
With the funding support of Flagstaff Medical Center, the Streets to Home Partnership (StoHP) was formed. This multi-organization inter-disciplinary team, guided by United Way of Northern Arizona and the Corporation for Supportive Housing, was assembled to consider the solution of permanent supportive housing and focused case management. StoHP will house clients determined to be frequent users of the public systems and chronically homeless serial inebriates. The program believes that permanent, affordable housing combined with a range of supportive services geared toward people with special needs will help individuals live stable and independent lives.
For more information about StoHP, contact United Way of Northern Arizona at (928) 773-9813 or The Guidance Center at (928) 527-1899. |
