test"United Way provides a way for me to give back to the community. The high standard that this organization is operated at gives me confidence in the decisions that are made and how investments are managed. United Way gives me the option to make one investment into the community. This one investment improves lives by helping people in the community gain access to educational, economic and health related opportunities. As needs change in the community, my investment can be changed to meet the challenges that need attention. "

David started supporting United Way in 1987 with Motorola in Phoenix, Arizona.  At the time, Motorola was one of the top five employers of the Valley and was a strong United Way partner. David is a United Way of Northern Arizona Summit Society member. He is active member in the community and a member of the the United Way of Northern Arizona Board of Directors since 2010.

TAX PREP-VITA

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) helps qualifing individuals and families receive their Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). VITA also provides information to individuals and families for financial resources in our community.

EARN IT! If your household income is less than $49,000 in 2010, you may qualify for the EARNED INCOME TAX CREDIT (EITC) - a credit that pays up to $5,666 based on family size and income.

KEEP IT! Free tax prep by certified volunteers. Don't pay expensive preparation or "rapid refund" fees. Let VITA volunteers certified by the IRS prepare your returns free of charge.

SAVE IT! Open a bank account, build savings and improve your credit. Ask volunteers at the VITA sire about ways to put your money to work for you.

For more information or for a list of locations, click on links below. Or, call 1-888-635-0545.

United Way of Northern Arizona's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program is in full swing, assisting low to moderate income families with free tax assistance. Within the first six weeks of tax season the program has filed 713 tax returns and is on track to once again bring more than $2 million dollars back to the community through tax refunds and credits.

The program has been successful thanks to the hard work and dedication of more than 106 VITA volunteers. Volunteers who assist with tax preparation are trained and certified by the IRS to complete tax returns. VITA volunteers have been working diligently to ensure that clients are receiving quality tax return preparation at 19 sites spread across Coconino, Navajo, and Apache counties.

Do you need your taxes done or know someone who does? It's still not too late to visit a VITA site. With five weeks left in the tax season, there are still plenty of opportunities to receive tax assistance at one of the VITA sites if your family made $49,000 or less in total income in 2010. For a complete listing of sites please call 1-888-635-0545 or visit www.nazunitedway.org.
