INCOME
United Way Northern Arizona in partnership with AmeriCorps* VISTA, Arizona Community Foundation, City of Flagstaff, Coconino County, IRS, and Wells Fargo helps individuals and families receive unclaimed tax credits. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable federal income tax credit for low and moderate income working individuals and families. VITA helps qualifying families and individuals get the EITC credit for free. A family of four earning less than $49,000 per year can qualify for up to $5,657 in Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), boosting their income by up to 35%! EITC is even available for those who do not have children. An individual earning less than $13,440 per year can qualify for up to $457 in EITC. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers FREE tax preparation for families in the Earn It! Keep It! Save It! program during tax season. Last year, the VITA program returned more than $1.7 million dollars to nearly 1,400 individuals and families.
For more information about VITA or to locate additional VITA Tax Preparation sites and times, visit United Way of Northern Arizona's website at nazunitedway.org or contact Clover Collard, Director of Community Partnerships, United Way of Northern Arizona, at ccollard@nazunitedway.org. |

VOTE YES FOR FUSD OVERRIDE
United Way of Northern Arizona (UWNA) believes education is a cornerstone of individual and community success. The benefits of education are fundamental to our community's long-term prosperity and will provide our children with higher earning potential as adults.
The UWNA Board of Directors is strongly committed to sustaining and improving the quality of education in our region. We ask you to vote Yes on the Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) Budget Override on March 9, 2010.
The funding provided by the adoption of the override would reduce the overall impact of the decline in state resources for our district. The funding would also allow FUSD officials flexibility to make thoughtful decisions about the long-term delivery of quality public education. Please vote YES on the FUSD Budget Override to ensure that FUSD can provide quality public education for our children.
