A Letter from Rebecca Novinger

Dear MDHC Family and Supporters,

It is with a heavy heart that I am resigning from my position as Special Programs Coordinator of the Marion Downs Hearing Center. For the past 4 years, I have been commuting two hours daily between Erie and Aurora. With a nearly 2-year old daughter (where does time go!?), the commute has become too difficult so I am taking a position closer to home where I can spend more time with my family. While I will no longer be a part of the center's daily activities, you will see me around. I hope to continue to play a role in our Teen Program and volunteer at our family events.

My time here has been personally and professionally rewarding on so many levels. I have been privileged to work alongside countless passionate people in this field. My colleagues have inspired and challenged me every day. I wish my parents had had a resource like the Marion Downs Hearing Center when my brother and I were diagnosed with hearing loss 30 years ago. As many of you know, my mother is my hero - her hard work and commitment ensured my brother and I had the best opportunities to succeed in life. In many ways, I've always felt my position here has been my way to "pay it forward" by working with families just beginning their own journeys. The Marion Downs Hearing Center, my colleagues in this field, and the deaf and hard of hearing community will always have a piece of my heart. Thank you, Sandy, for this opportunity.

Warmly,

Rebecca Novinger

For all programmatic activities and correspondence after March 2, please contact Abbey Seidl at Abigail.seidl@uch.edu. For all Foundation activities, contact Dr. Sandra Gabbard at Sandra.gabbard@uch.edu.

We love celebrating our kid's special milestones...not just their hearing ones!

Meet Our Newest Staff Member!
Abbey SeidlWe are thrilled to introduce the newest member of the MDHC, Abbey Seidl. Abbey is our Administrative Assistant and she will be providing executive and program support to the center.

After spending many summers travelling to developing countries through a non-profit organization, Abbey developed the desire to work towards improving the quality of life for all. This enthusiasm to advocate for others led Abbey into the field of speech and hearing sciences. She received her Bachelors of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Saint Louis University and is currently concluding her Master's Degree in Deaf Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Working at the MDHC gives Abbey the opportunity to support individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing by connecting them with resources. Whether as an assistant, or future clinician, it is Abbey's hope that she will continue to work at the Marion Downs Hearing Center, following a mission she considers near and dear to her heart.

Welcome, Abbey!
