Clinic Front Desk Staff Receives Award

Yolande
A developmentally delayed patient has been coming back repeatedly to the Marion Downs Hearing Center clinic because her hearing aids have been getting wet due to the rain. She was advised to use an umbrella to protect her hearing aids when it was raining and she then told the clinic front desk staff that she did not have one and did not know where to get them. At that moment, Yolande, got up and offered her umbrella to the patient stating that she had two and had one to spare.

AIDET is the hospital's customer service training program for exceptional patient service. At the beginning of each department's meeting, managers share an "AIDET moment" within their clinic. Susan Mirabito, the MDHC clinic manager reports, "...What she did was an example of excellent customer service and going above and beyond, reaching out to a patient. I was very impressed with Yolande's selflessness and generosity. This is a perfect example of the great customer service skills that Yolande possesses."

Congratulations Yolande and thank you for being an outstanding example of quality customer service!

Child Benefits from Mission Trip to China

Over the summer, we shared that Tammy Frederickson, an Audiologist with MDHC, travelled to China on a mission trip to provide hearing technology to children in rural villages as well as training to their professionals.
While on that trip, they met a little girl named FuMei. No one thought she'd ever be able to hear with hearing aids. Well, they were wrong!
Enjoy these pictures of the trip, some of which include FuMei's adorable smiling face!

On Wednesday, August 24, Marion Downs was honored at a luncheon by the nation's Centers for Disease Control for her significant work in the field of newborn hearing screening. "Downs started the first infant hearing screening program in the country in Denver in 1963. Today, more than 95 percent of all babies in the U.S. are screened for hearing loss at birth, a direct result of Downs' determination to find and help children with hearing deficits as early as she could..."
