Teen Day a Success. Help Us Plan the Next One!
On Monday, April 25, several schools sent their high school teens to participate in our annual Teen Day event. Due to limited bussing funds and packed schedules, we had fewer students participate this year. We are reevaluating the time of year we offer our program.
Educational professionals and parents of teens: Please take a moment to complete this 2-question survey about the timing and format of the program. We value your feedback!

Hearing Aid Assistance Tax Credit Act Introduced
With the average cost of new hearing aids being $1,000-$4,000 each, and limited health insurance coverage available, many families struggle to purchase the technology they need. The American Academy of Audiology is working to try to make things easier by advocating for a tax credit. Consider writing a letter to House Representative and send in your support! The Academy's press release is below:
The Academy is pleased to announce the introduction of the Hearing Aid Assistance Tax Credit Act (H.R. 1479) in the 112th Congress. Today, Congressman Tom Latham (R-IA) and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), along with 35 original co-sponsors, introduced H.R. 1479 in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Academy, as an active member of the Hearing Aid Tax Credit Coalition, is delighted by the overwhelming support that we have garnered on this issue.
The Act provides a tax credit of up to $500 toward the purchase of a hearing aid, available once every five years. The tax credit would be available to those individuals aged 55 years and older, dependents of taxpayers, or taxpayers whose adjusted gross income is below $200,000.
Last Congress, the Hearing Aid Assistance Tax credit bill reached 130 cosponsors in the U.S. House and nine in the U.S. Senate. You can help to gain support for this initiative by visiting the Legislative Action Center on the Academy's Web site. Here you can locate your member of Congress and send an editable form letter urging support for H.R. 1479, as well as contact information for your legislator.
