Is it fall? Is it winter? After this week's big winter storm, we're not quite sure! But one thing we DO know - the holiday season has arrived! The holiday season is a time for celebrating but it is also a time of giving. This holiday season, we challenge you to volunteer some of your time or share some of your goodwill with others who are in need.

We value being able to provide assistive listening device demonstrations, mulitple family picnics through the year, and low cost sign language classes. These programs, and others, are made possible by support by grateful patients, families, and consumers.

We rely on the generous support of individuals, corporations, and community organizations to make it possible for us to provide research, education, awareness, and support for individuals with hearing loss and their families. All donations, large and small, are greatly needed and appreciated.

After a close review and intense deliberation over the many impressive submissions for our annual holiday art contest, winners have been selected! Congratulations to Kristen, Kelin, and Maddie for winning the 2009 Holiday Art Contest! These cards will be available for you to purchase to send out your own holiday greetings. They will feature the winner's art on the cover with the artist's story on the back. All proceeds from sales of the holiday cards will benefit programs of the Marion Downs Hearing Center. Keep your eye on your email inbox - an order form, featuring the card selections, will be available next week!

Our first Sign Language Immersion Day was a success! We had ___ enthusiastic participants of various skill levels join us for a full day of games and activities in a voice-off environment. Everyone had a good time, came away with a few new vocabulary words, and an increased understanding of the language. We've already had requests for another opportunity so we'll have our next in the spring on March 13!
