WE'RE HERE FOR GOOD!  MHYC Purchases its Facility at 1801 Federal Blvd.

Thanks to the hard work and generous support of many, Mile High Youth Corps secured a permanent home for our programs by purchasing our facility at 1801 Federal Blvd. last month. The campaign to purchase and renovate the building was launched in 2007 with the goals of purchasing the building in 2008 and raising funds needed for major renovations in 2009. Completing the purchase was an incredible milestone for the Corps and ensures that youth in our community will always have access to the programs and services that we provide.

We continue to raise the funds needed to renovate the facility. The planned renovations include adding new classrooms, making the building ADA accessible, and "greening" the building to reduce our carbon footprint.

For more information on our plans for the renovations, contact Shanda Vangas at
shandav@mhyc.net or 303.433.1206 (opt. 1, x 324). If you'd like to support our campaign efforts, make a secure online donation at www.milehighyouthcorps.org/donate.

Founders Circle Honors New Members

Mile High Youth Corps' Founders Circle was born out of our founder, Josie Heath's desire to keep former board members closely connected to the Corps. Since 2004, past and newly "retiring" board members have joined the Founders Circle to continue to support our mission and remain involved in our work. Congratulations to Shannon Chafin and David Wallace, who were recognized as the newest members of the Founders Circle at the annual Founders Circle Dinner on Thursday, November 20.

During her seven years on the Corps' Board of Directors, Shannon worked closely with the Finance Department as Treasurer and member of the Finance Committee, providing her CPA expertise to ensure that the agency had excellent fiscal management.

David, who served on the Board for eight years, has been vital in many of our fundraising efforts and was instrumental in helping us hire our first teacher and in establishing our successful GED preparation programs.

MHYC has enjoyed outstanding board leadership throughout our 16-year history and we are grateful for the time, expertise and financial contributions that our board members provide. A heartfelt thank you to Shannon and David-- your dedication and generosity impacted the lives of countless young people.
Giving Thanks to our Employer Partners

Thank you to the many partners who have helped with MHYC's job readiness training this year. Through their volunteered time, experience and wisdom, these partners have prepared our youth for successful entry into the workforce.
