Greetings!

We are very excited to introduce the Asia Business Center at U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business.

This inaugural newsletter aims to keep you abreast of all the wonderful happenings with the Center. There are many opportunities to get involved and we look forward to a successful and prosperous year.

Sincerely,

Teck Ho
Director
singapore landmark Trip to Asia

Haas School of Business Dean Tom Campbell and Asia Business Center Director Professor Teck Ho, traveled to Asia from February 15 to March 2 where they visited Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, and Tokyo.

During the trip, they signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) for teaching and research collaborations with the National Taiwan University (NTU) and the City University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Under the two MOUs, graduate students and managers from the respective countries will study at the Haas School of Business. In addition, several Haas School professors will teach an intense graduate course at their universities in Asia and collaborate with Asian researchers while they are there.

Professor Ho and Dean Campbell met with many alumni who were incredibly supportive of the concept of the Center, which is very important since the Center aims to energize the alumni base in Asia. Many alumni participated by offering up great ideas and suggestions for the Center's direction and future.

During the trip, some new agreements were on the table - one with a new partner, the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Ho also discussed additional agreements to create new programs with two already established partners, the National University of Singapore and the National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan. More will be disclosed about these programs in the coming months.

"The trip was quite a success," stated Prof. Teck Ho. "We met many incredible supporters of the Haas School who are very enthusiastic about the school and the new Center," he continued. "It's off to a great start and we look forward to the continuous support from our alumni base and friends," he affirmed.

The Asia Business Center plans to maintain and strengthen the ties Dean Campbell and Professor Ho established during the trip.

Stanley Wang, Pantronix Corp. Berkeley Asian Fellows Program

The Asia Business Center is proud to announce the Berkeley Asian Fellows Program. This year's fellows are the Wang Fellows 2008 named after Mr. Stanley Wang, Chairman, Founder, and President of Pantronix Corporation, who gave a very generous donation to start the program.

This highly competitive fellows program sponsors promising leaders from Asia to attend the Berkeley Executive Leadership Program run by UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. The leaders are selected jointly by ABC and its strategic partners in China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The curriculum addresses how to lead and execute change and turn opportunity into growth and action. In addition, the fellows have a great opportunity to network with professors at the Haas School of Business as well as with business leaders in the Bay Area.
