Do you have a sub-spindle lathe? Do you have an occasional need to do shaft work? 

 

With the MD Tooling Removable Center tool, you can turn your sub-spindle machine into a tailstock machine and back again anytime during the cycle.

 

The center is stored on the turret. When it is needed, the turret presents the center to the chuck. Once the chuck clamps on the center, the turret and center holder move off. Start both spindles at the same RPM and the sub-spindle axis is ready to put pressure on the part. When you are done with the center, simply back off the sub-spindle axis. Bring the turret and holder back into position in front of the chuck - unclamp the chuck and move the turret out of the way. Now you are back to a sub-spindle machine and ready for your next operation.
