May is Jewish American

In 2006, the same year that JLTV launched as America's Chosen Network®, President George W. Bush decreed May as Jewish American History Month. The past week's edition of Adweek recognized the month's special significance and proclaimed its "Top 10 Fictional TV Jews".

1. Jerry Seinfeld, Seinfeld
2. Rhoda Morgenstern (Valerie Harper), The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda
3. Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), Friends
4. Juan Epstein (Robert Hegyes), Welcome Back Kotter
5. Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn), The Facts of Life
6. Joel Fleischman (Rob Morrow), Northern Exposure
7. Hesh Rabkin (Jerry Adler), The Sopranos
8. Dharma Finkelstein (Jenna Elfman), Dharma & Greg
9. Grace Adler (Debra Messing), Will & Grace
10. Mick Belker (Bruce Weitz), Hill Street Blues

On JLTV, every day is Jewish American Day. JLTV celebrates the continual, positive impact of the early pioneers all the way up to today's Jewish-American leader.

Thank you Adweek for providing your perspective and taking notice of the special month!

This week in Jewish History
... brought to you by the JLTV News Department

On this day, May 16 in 1990 ...

Sammy Davis Jr.Sammy Davis, Jr. passed away at the age of 64.  During his illustrious career, Sammy mastered virtually every entertainment medium available to him.  From Broadway to Las Vegas, from television to film, Sammy Davis, Jr. was one of the most loved entertainers of his day. The African-American superstar was also well-known as one of the world's most famous converts to Judaism. After surviving a serious car accident that took his left eye in 1954, the entertainer Eddie Cantor discussed with Davis the similarities between Jewish and Black communities, prompting his ultimate conversion to the Jewish faith.
