Leo David, Philanthropist
and Business Leader,
Active on JLTV's Board
"I've never worried too much about money, because I thought I could always make more," commented Leo David. His courage as a businessman and soldier in the early Israeli army is exemplified by his dedication to the IDF as founder of its West Coast friendship organization in which the word "welfare" was in its original name. Leo served in a tank unit during Israel's independence era, after having left Germany with his family in 1933. He later moved to America and founded a successful chain of electronic stores, Leo's Stereo. JLTV is proud to include Leo as an ardent supporter and advisor to America's Chosen Network®. |

... brought to you by the JLTV News Department On this day, March 7, in 1912 ...
Hadassah was founded by Henrietta Szold. At a meeting at Temple Emanu-El in New York City, Henrietta Szold, a well-know scholar, teacher, journalist, social worker and leading Zionist, convinced the Daughters of Zion Study Circle to expand its purpose and embrace "practical Zionism", by engaging in proactive work to meet the health needs of people of Palestine. Given that this monumentous meeting was held around Purim, the women called themselves "the Hadassah Chapter of the Daughters of Zion," taking the Hebrew name of Queen Esther.
