JLTV to Broadcast European Maccabi Games Next Summer JLTV, America's Chosen Network, will be broadcasting the European Maccabi Games next summer from Vienna, Austria. The Games, built on the format of the Olympics will feature Jewish men, women, and youth participating in a myriad of sports. The European competition occurs every four years, two years following the Maccabiah Games held in Israel. JLTV covered the Israeli sports event last summer in 2009 reaching out to viewers in 116 countries. The European Maccabi Confederation is currently made up of 36 member nations. Prior to World War I (1917), Maccabi sports clubs started to spring up across Europe, which eventually led to the present day event. World War II initiated a halt to the Games and Jews participating in sports, including countries like Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary and several others. The European Games will be held next year from July 6 through July 12, 2011 and JLTV will be there to capture the action. "JLTV is committed to this important project for several reasons including the rise of anti-Semitism in Europe, the historic roots of American and Canadian Jews in Europe, and the need to support the multitude of Jewish communities across Europe," stated Phil Blazer, President and CEO of JLTV.
