Dramatic, True Story "Four Chaplains" Documentary to Air on JLTV
The acclaimed 60-minute documentary "Four Chaplains" will have its
broadcast debut on JLTV, Saturday, March 6th at 8:00 PM/7:00 PM
Central. Four chaplains that held the rank of lieutenant, Reverend
George L. Fox, Rabbi Alexander D. Goode, Father John P. Washington and
Reverend Clark V. Poling were sailing on the USAT Dorchester on the
night of February 3, 1943. The former coastal liner, which had been
converted to a troop transport, was torpedoed by a German submarine off
of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic. The ship's electrical system
failed leaving the vessel completely dark. Panic set in and many
sailors where trapped below. The four chaplains sought to calm the men
and began organizing an orderly evacuation. Life jackets were passed
out, but there was a shortage. The clergymen gave their own jackets to
others in the ultimate act of saving lives. The chaplains perished, but
their courageous interfaith story is still being told today, not only
to members of the US Navy but also to all who learn of their plight.
JLTV is proud to present the remarkable saga of the "Four Chaplains."
Some of JLTV's programming is also being broadcast on AFN (American
Forces Network) to bases, ships, embassies and consulates in over 160
countries. Comments from JLTV viewers:May
G-d bless you for this wonderful TV station! I just happened upon your
station this morning... Thank you for this station and the VITAL true
news of the Jewish nation. EVERYONE needs to see your station! I will
let my associates and friends know that you exist, especially my
friends at our local Shul. I am a Christian willing to do what is
necessary to defend Israel as are many others in the USA. If you EVER
meet anyone who claims to be Christian but does not back Israel - THEY
ARE NOT CHRISTIANS and there are MANY of them lurking about!
Christians know that the Jewish nation is "the apple of His eye." We
stand with Israel FOREVER. May G-d bless Israel, along with you and
your loving families! - L. Cain - Tampa, Florida You are doing a good job - keep up the good work... (Watching on DIRECTV) - Hank Washauer - San Carlos, CA I
am so delighted to finally have a Jewish television station! It's
something I've often wanted but, of course, (until now) not had! I
hope your programs continue to grow - that you represent the Jewish
community's diversity - there are so many interesting things about us
that I'm sure you lacking nothing but funding - perhaps - to hold you
back! How are you funded, by the way? And do you need viewer support,
like PBS stations? (Yes, we are viewer funded) I wish you the best of
luck with all your endeavors! Welcome to TV! I'm so glad you exist!
B'shalom. - Debbie Michaels - Los Angeles, CA
