RESCUE OPERATIONS IN HAITI
This past Friday, January 15, two Israel Defense Force cargo planes landed in Haiti with field medical tents, medical and surgical equipment, 60 doctors and medics, 20 nurses, 20 X-ray technicians and 140 search and rescue volunteers.. The team established a major field hospital adjacent to Port-au-Prince's soccer stadium, which is reported to be one of the largest medical facilities operating in Haiti with the capacity to treat up to 500 patients per day. The IDF team assisted a Haitian women giving birth to a baby daughter, who she named Israel. Tiny Israel with a national population of half the size of Haiti, is proportionately one of the leading rescue nations in this international operation
JLTV has reported that there have been no rescue operations from its oil-rich neighbor of Venezuela, nor from Cuba, nor from any Arab country. "This is another example of Israel's spring into action rescue efforts, which for years has portrayed Israel and the Jewish people's compassion and humanitarian approach to the most sacred of all - life," commented one of Israel's rescuers representing Mogen David Adom (MDA). Israel's Prime Minister, Behyamin Netanyahu said " We have applied this experience previously in disaster scenes around the world, including Mexico, Argentina, Armenia, Kenya and Turkey."
