Theresienstadt Ghetto Secrets To Be Revealed During JLTV Exclusive Broadcast On May 8
Hundreds of thousands of Jews were held prisoners behind the walls of Theresienstadt during the dark days of the Holocaust. This Ghetto was used by the Nazis to impress The Red Cross that the Jews were being treated "properly." This piece of Holocaust history has been presented several times in feature films, including Herman Wouk's, War And Remembrance. The Red Cross was duped into believing that the Jews were well-off, but history proved otherwise. JLTV will air a Special focusing on the artists, composers, authors and actors who resided in this precarious Ghetto. The telecast will coincide with the liberation of Theresienstadt by Russian troops, which took place at 7:45 PM on May 8, 1945 on their way to Prague. Their arrival signaled the official end of the Nazi regime in Theresienstadt. The program stars Svetlana Portnyansky who takes us personally through the Ghetto in song and actual archival footage. The horrors of Theresienstadt, will come to life on JLTV as part of its' continuing series Never Again, Never Forget.
