JLTV GOES GLOBAL WITH JULY 12 LAUNCH ON HOT BIRD
First 24-Hour Jewish-Themed Television Network Quadruples Reach To Over 100 Million Homes Worldwide
Los Angeles (July 8, 2009) - After 5769 years, the Jews finally have their own TV network.
Already in 25 million U.S. homes through Time Warner Cable, along with numerous independent cable operators and a recent agreement with DirecTV, JLTV, America's first 24-hour Jewish-themed television channel, will go global and more than quadruple its reach with its July 12 launch on Hot Bird, a family of satellites operated by Eutelsat Communications.
JLTV will be available to an additional 80 million homes in 43 countries across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa through Hot Bird satellite systems. Coverage includes Egypt (4.5 million), Russia (2 million), Poland (4 million), Italy (5.3 million), France (4 million), Austria (914,000), Germany (5.5 million), Iran (appx. 19.3 million households) and Iraq (2.8 million).
"The global Jewish community has never had anything like JLTV, and we are thrilled to bring our quality professional programming into millions of new homes outside of North America," stated Phil Blazer, president and CEO of JLTV.
With programming that appeals to both Jewish and non-Jewish audiences, JLTV offers a breadth of news, sports, lifestyle and entertainment programming including feature films, documentaries, music, reviews, interviews and special events. Its original programming includes:
- On the Hour - Hourly program gathering news from JLTV bureaus worldwide, offering a fresh perspective on the news largely unseen in the U.S.
- JLTV Jams - Introducing Jewish musicians around the globe with one-on-one interviews, music videos, live concert footage, behind-the-scenes peeks and more. JLTV Jams allows local and international Jewish musicians to showcase their work, tell their stories and share their dreams.
- On Campus - A tour of campus life across America to explore what university professors and students understand about Israel, the Middle East and Jewish life in general. On Campus speaks directly to the college student body by using reporters of the same age group.
- School Judaica - Sunday through Thursday show that creatively motivates the study of Judaism in all of its denominations, including Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist.
- To The Point - One-hour television magazine, airing Monday through Thursday, interviewing dynamic personalities and political figures.
- Better Living with Laura Klein - Lifestyle program that provides tips on home décor, healthy cooking and earth-friendly practices with organic living and lifestyle expert Laura Klein.
- FLIX - Movie reviews examining every genre of film as well as the latest DVD releases
- Air, Land, and Sea - Daily travel show introducing viewers to Jewish life at unique locales, such as Fiji and Djerba, as well as spotlighting breathtaking sights in Israel
