Nearly 40,000 Dodger Fans Celebrate The Maccabiah Games and Israel's Birthday
In this year's largest Israel celebration in America, nearly 40,000 Dodger fans were introduced to the 18th Maccabiah Games. JLTV's President and CEO, Phil Blazer introduced Mitch Gaylord to the crowd during the pre-game ceremony. Mitch is a 1984 Olympic gold medalist in Gymnastics and won gold medals in the 1981 Maccabiah Games. The athletic star will be anchoring JLTV's live coverage of the Games from Israel, July 12th through the 23rd.
The 12th Jewish Community event at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, May 19th, was initiated by JLTV and The Jewish News. Members from various US participating sports to the Games were introduced on the field. Ron Carner, Chairman of the USA Maccabiah Games, threw-out the first pitch. At home plate, teammates from Milken Community High School (baseball league champions) held American and Israeli flags. The anthem and God Bless America was performed by singer and composer Sam Glazer. A two-minute video about the Maccabiah Games was shown on the Dodgers' big screen.
JLTV will begin broadcasting to over 100 million homes on July 12th with the Maccabiah Games as its launch event. For the first time, the Games will be televised outside of Israel across America, Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
