JLTV Receives Broadcast Rights For
The 2009 Maccabiah Games From Israel

The number "18" represents chai which means life - and the number is special! The summer of 2009 will mark the 18th Maccabiah Games, which will be held in Tel Aviv and throughout Israel from July 13 to 23, 2009. JLTV has been appointed as "The Official Broadcast Partner of the 18th Maccabiah Games."  This will be the first time in the history of the Games that they will be broadcast outside of Israel.  (Click here for two-minute video)

The Games will attract 10,000 athletes from approximately 60 countries.  There were 10,500 athletes at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.  This makes the Maccabiah Games the second largest sporting event in the world!

JLTV will broadcast live and live-tape in English, beginning with the Opening Ceremonies on July 13. JLTV (Jewish Life TV), the world's only full-time 24/7 Jewish television outlet outside of Israel, will feature not only a multitude of sports competition, but also human-interest stories about the athletes and their countries, the history of the games, and vignettes about Israel.

Anchoring the 11-day broadcast for JLTV will be Olympic and Maccabiah Gold Medalist, Mitch Gaylord.  Mitch led the 1984 Gold Medal winning U.S. men's gymnastics team, becoming the first American gymnast to score a perfect 10 in the Olympics!  Recently, he appeared as a regular on the NBC program Celebrity Circus.

"We are excited about JLTV's commitment to broadcast the Maccabiah Games and to our new partnership," commented Eyal Tiberger, Director-General, Maccabi World Union.

Nearly 1,000 athletes will be competing in the Games from the United States.  "Our main target areas are the United States, Canada, Europe, along with North Africa and the Middle East.  JLTV's broadcast will underscore the perseverance, camaraderie and compassion of World Jewry," stated Phil Blazer, President and CEO of JLTV.

The new partnership between The Maccabiah Games and JLTV was stimulated by one of America's outstanding community leaders, Steve Soboroff. He recently organized The Committee of 18, a group of exceptional entrepreneurs who have become ardent supporters of the Games.

JLTV begins broadcasting advance daily reports on The Maccabiah Games on Monday, December 1st.  JLTV streams its full-time signal live on the Internet at: www.jltv.tv This streaming video allows everyone to view the Games and become an active spectator.
