Greetings!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is now ready to start the week off on a positive note! While there may not be much on the calendar in the way of activities, that doesn't mean your Chamber is not hard at work!
On Monday, your Chamber will be meeting with representatives of other Chambers who have regional universities in their communities, to discuss how best to support these institutions.
On Wednesday your Chamber will be working in the area of tourism as it starts work on developing and producing promotional material and host a tour operator on a "fam tour." A fam, short for familiarization, tour provides the tour operator with a personalized tour of Weatherford's tourism opportunities. This tour operator is planning a "Route 66 Tour."
We'll keep you posted on this and other activities of your Chamber of Commerce!

| Library Summer Reading Program |
| Help support the Weatherford Public Library. Take a look at the the three easy ways you can help, and then give Tia Spead a call, 772-3591, and let her know you're willing to help. There are three ways a business can support the Weatherford Public Library Summer Reading Program:
1) Sponsor a Program for $50 - For $50 the business will be the official sponsor of one of the activities on the summer calendar.
2) Host an Event - A business can host an event by donating the materials for an event or presenting event(s) at the library themselves. To get your businesses event on the calendar call the library today!
3) Donate Prizes - We need prizes for kids who meet reading goals, door prizes, and prizes for the adult summer reading program drawings. |
| Minimum Wage Increase Reminder |

The second step increase goes into effect July 24th bringing the minimum wage to $6.55 per hour. The final increment will occur July 24, 2009 with the minimum wage increasing to $7.25 per hour. Oklahoma Travel Center - Erick Oklahoma
May 16, 2008, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Return by: May 2, 2008
Come join the fun and promote Weatherford and your business when Weatherford's tourism partners tout the virtues of our tourism attractions - May 16, during National Tourism Week at the Oklahoma Travel Center near Erick. The event is a project of your Chamber's Tourism Committee and is open to any Chamber member.
Hosting a "day" at the travel center is an excellent opportunity to for Weatherford to meet one on one with the travel counselors and familiarize them with our tourism opportunities. Each day the Center's travel counselors talk with the traveling public about things to see and do in Oklahoma. Many times, a traveler will stop in a travel center and ask the Counselors to help plan their trip across Oklahoma,
To join the project, simply complete this form, keep a copy for your records, and return the form to the Chamber office by May 2.
