| Jam Meeting |
| Mark your calendar for February 19, 8:00 a.m. at the Chamber office for the Retail Trades Committee's Jam Meeting. The meeting is open to any interested Chamber member. Chief topic of discussion will be plans for the 2008 retail community. The only requirement to attend is an interest in Weatherford retail.
|
| Events Needed |
|
In the next week or two the Chamber will receive a request from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department advising us of the advertising and submission deadlines for the 2009 Oklahoma Travel Guide and Calendar of Events. This is the State of Oklahoma's premier promotion piece, showcasing hundreds of Oklahoma communities and events. So take a few minutes now and start putting your information together so your event and Weatherford will be well represented in the guide.
Also, don't forget the Chamber's Tourism Committee is making plans for 2008 and a critical need is an annual Calendar of Events, highlighting those activities which would be of interest to the traveling public. If you are part of an organization which has an event or activity meeting this criteria please 1) email the Chamber with the following information, name of event, date, time, location, ticket price, contact person with contact information, and a brief description and 2) go the Chamber's Web site calendar at www.weatherfordchamber.com and add the event to the calendar.
The Calendar of Events will be distributed at the Chamber office, locations in and around Weatherford, and at various travel shows and events, Weatherford will be attending. |
| Information Central |
|

The guide provides great information about tourism attractions and events around the state. Also available is tourism brochures from around the state.

Weatherford was host February 12 to a TimeLines Mystery Tour. Participants in the tour were with the First National Bank of Perry who left Perry only knowing they were taking a mystery day trip with a chocolate theme. It was only after they arrived at the Stafford Air and Space Museum they learned additional details. After a tour of the museum, the group had lunch at Lucille's Roadhouse. During lunch the group was greeted by representatives of the Weatherford Daily News, Kelley Jewelry, and the Chamber of Commerce. During lunch Kelley Jewelry gave a brief presentation about chocolate pearls. Following lunch, the group travelled through downtown before taking a tour of the wind turbines. |
