Congregational News...

 

First Presbyterian Church, Athens...athens12welcomed their newly-installed pastor, the Reverend Robert E. Martin on Sunday afternoon, March 11. Rob, who began his ministry in Athens in mid-January, is a graduate of Muskingum University and McCormick Seminary. Rob has served churches in Chicago, Indiana and, most recently, in New Jersey.

 

Columbus Bethany Presbyterian Church...invites you to join them this Saturday, March 17, 1-3 pm, for a workshop on the 2011-12 Horizons Bible Study presented by author, Dr. Margaret Aymer. Concord Presbyterian Church...invites you to join with them in supporting the outreach ministries at Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church. Volunteer work teams are needed to help pack food boxes for the food pantry, help with the Saturday evening community meal, and prepare for and help with the April 7th Easter Egg Hunt. Highlands Presbyterian Church, Worthington and The Presbytery of Scioto Valley...invite you to the Installation of the Reverend Ronald Botts, as the Designated Pastor of the Highlands Presbyterian Church, 6909 Smoky Row Road, Columbus 43235. The service will be held this Sunday, March 18 at 3 pm.  Pastors are invited to arrive by 2:30 and participate in the service. The liturgical color for the day is red.  

 

Ostrander Presbyterian Church...a small congregation of 46 members in rural Delaware County is searching for a part-time person to fill their pulpit. Millwood Presbyterian Church...will be celebrating their life and ministry in a final worship service on Sunday, April 22nd at 3 pm. Please keep the members and friends of this small congregation in your prayers as they complete their ministry in this small community in central Ohio.

 

First Presbyterian Church, Fredericktown...recently celebrated the life of Chester (Chet) Scarbrough, age 97. Chet was  a member of the church for 80 years, taught Sunday School for 50 years and served as an Elder for a decade. He will be missed by the Knox County community and the whole First Presbyterian Church family.

 

First Presbyterian Church, Waverly...is celebrating 170 years of service to God and the Waverly community. The First Presbyterian Church of Waverly was established in 1842 as an offshoot of the Presbyterian Church in Piketon that dissolved in 1886. The first of four special events will be a worship service this Sunday, March 18. The service will be conducted in a style typical of the church's earliest days. 

Update on Dana Knapp, Former Executive Presbyter
The Synod of Lakes and Prairies Permanent Judicial Commission has completed their task related to the allegations against Dana Knapp, our former Executive Presbyter. An agreement was reached between the Investigating Committee and Dr. Knapp, resulting in the removal of Dana from the office of Teaching Elder (Minister of Word and Sacrament) effective immediately. Caring for Aging Parents Program at Westminster-Thurber Community in Columbus
A program called, Caring for Aging Parents: Engaging Busy Baby Boomers Before and During a Crisis, will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 9:45 am - 1 pm at Westminster-Thurber.
