Our Day to Give Thanks
Hello everyone, this is Meredith (Bob's daughter) writing y'all from Firenze, Italia (Florence, Italy to you Yanks) where I am studying for the year. As we all know November is Thanksgiving time, but what y'all might not know is that Thanksgiving is strictly an American holiday.
It turns out turkey and pumpkin pie aren't universal either. It makes me kind of sad that all countries don't have an entire day each year dedicated to gratefulness.
So often we forget to stop and reflect upon all of the things we have to be grateful for. While the Italians might not celebrate Thanksgiving, I know that I have too much to be thankful for to not celebrate it anyway.
This Thanksgiving don't just think of it as a day to eat a lot and shop but as a day to be grateful for family, friends, and life.
I won't be able to share this Thanksgiving with my family as I have in the past. So I will simply spend it being thankful for that family. I hope y'all can find something to be thankful for as well.
Ciao Tutti!
